Liger a Tigon(křížení tygra se lvem)
Z náhodného křížení mezi tygry a lvy v zajetí vzešly dva druhy zvláštních kříženců, lvotygři. Lví potomek „liger“ má hřívu a tygří pruhy, má dlouhé tělo přes tři metry a může vyvinout rychlost až 80 km/h. Tygří potomek „tigon“ je menší.
Liger
Liger je nejrozšířenější formou hybrydů. Vzniká pářením samice tygra a samce lva. Ligeři jsou největšími zástupci velkých koček, mohou dosáhnou délky 360 centimetrů a váhy 450 kilogramů – jde o důslek absence genu omezující velikost potomstva, který u lvů přenáší lvice a u tygra samec. Na srsti ligerů nacházíme skvrny a pruhy a samci mají hřívu podobnou hřívě samce lva. Samci jsou obvykle neplodní, samice často plodné a moho se úspěšně spářit s jedinci obou druhů.
Tigon
Tigoni vzniká spojením samice lva a samce tygra. V důsledku spojení genů omezujícího velikost od matky i otce jsou mnohem menší než ligeři a v průměru váží kolem 150 kilogramů. Samci tigonů jsou sterilní(neplodní), ale žsamice tigonů jsou často plodné. Srst tigonů pokrývají skvrny a pruhy, samci mají pouze nevýraznou hřívu. Samice tigonů bývají sterilní častěji, než samice ligerů.
